SIG Discussion Groups

We have monthly SIG Discussion Groups on topics identified by members of our Q SIG and our CHA members.  Those registering and attending receive a certificate of attendance and a link to the presentations and recording.  The feedback on our discussions have been very positive, with terms such as "inspirational". The sessions so far have been very lively and productive.  Recordings and presentations are available.

Innovation in Healthcare Support Worker Preceptorship & Development  with Lucy Somerville, Professional Development Nurse & Professional Nurse Advocate, RN QN Fellow HEA  at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.

Launched in November 2023, this innovative six-month preceptorship and development programme was created in response to a clear gap in structured progression for HCSWs. It combines enhanced clinical skills, leadership development and a focus on interpersonal and critical thinking skills. Each participant also designs and leads a quality improvement (QI) project rooted in their day-to-day practice.
With 100% of participants reporting a positive impact and 91% saying it renewed their interest in their role, this approach is helping to build a confident, skilled and motivated workforce. The programme has already led to meaningful change, with staff feeling more empowered, valued and equipped to lead improvements across services. Lucy's poster is available for download here Innovation & Best Practice Band 3 Preceptorship & Development programme and the judges' summary is here  communityhospitals.org.uk/Summary SCFT HCSW DRAFT.png
